What's in a Name?

For three years I have used different usernames on my social sites. I have become known as geepeace all over the web. I love being geepeace. "gee" for Gerri and "peace" for, well for what I stand for. I originally thought this was a good idea, to protect myself from the weirdos on the web.
But, you know what? With all of the different communities I belong to, it's getting a bit confusing. I'm also now a web business owner with hopes of expanding that business. It just makes perfect sense to be myself and not a "code name." So now, after some labor intense efforts, I've streamlined my usernames, websites, and such.
I'm Gerri Smalley and it's very nice to meet you. :)

much peace and love...

  1. Hello Gerri, nice to meet you :) I admire you for being brave enough to take the plunge and blog under your real name. Maybe one day I will too.

  2. Oh, it's so nice to meet you! I love this move towards integration, towards manifesting fully and wholly who you are. This makes me think of one of my favorite quotes from Marianne Williamson, which says in part "And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same," (this is the whole quote: http://thousandshadesofgray.wordpress.com/2011/09/24/a-friendly-reminder/).

  13. I often ask myself if I can be authentic if I don't share my real name. I think if it were just me, I'd do it in a heartbeat, but I blog so much about my
family that I have to take their wishes into consideration. My husband is the super protective type and fears the weirdos out there. Maybe one day...

    Congratulations on taking the plunge!

    1. Yes Belle, I totally get that. My husband has loosened up over the years... You have to do what's right for you and your family. You are authentic no matter what path you choose. This was right for me, right now. There was a time when it wasn't. xo
